Linux Engineer

Initial 3-month Contract role

Hybrid Working, Central London

400- 500 p/day - Inside IR35

A fantastic opportunity has become available to join one of the Global Services Provider as a Linux Engineer where you will maintain and develop their customers RedHat Estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across various environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and manage security patches, system updates, and hardening to maintain compliance with organizational and industry standards.
  • Maintain and enhance security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability assessments in alignment with Cyber Essentials framework.
  • Provide expertise in managing system backups, disaster recovery, and system performance optimization.
  • Develop and maintain automated scripts to improve system efficiency and streamline operational processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent Red Hat certification.
  • Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, including installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Cyber Essentials security standards and best practices.
  • Proven experience in system hardening, patch management, and applying security updates.
  • Knowledge of system monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ansible for automation.
