What to expect

The purpose of this role is to enable the development, maintenance and support of mobile app journeys which support Post Office customers and Postmasters via the iOS and Android Mobile Travel App. As a Senior React Native Developer, you will be working in closely in an Agile Scrum Team to understand, translate, estimate and contribute towards the development and testing of features that are planned and scheduled for sprints. The role will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of developers, designers, and product managers to build high-quality products and features which add value for customer and colleagues, as well as providing mentoring/coaching to more junior and mid-level members of the team.

This role offers you an exciting opportunity to continuously improve and refactor the codebase to find development efficiencies and performance gains.

What you'll need to succeed

This role requires someone with strong proven experience in Mobile Application development with the ability to provide mentoring and analytical skills to assist with the operational performance across all aspects of the development teams experience. This role is also for someone with a strong track record of delivering, supporting, and maintaining features in an Agile Delivery environment.

You will have:

  • Experience developing applications in a variety of languages and frameworks in Mobile App Development including TypeScript, React Native, and ReactJS.
  • Experience of cloud-native micro-services and distributed systems (ideally AWS)
  • Experience with serverless cloud services (Lambda/Api Gateway/Cognito/DynamoDB)
  • Experience and knowledge of Mobile App Deployments for Android and iOS.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and architectures, using relational and/or non-relational database approaches with the ability to query using SQL.
  • Experience of developing and supporting RESTful APIs, an understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Release processes and Governance.
  • Experience of a wide range of SLDC methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile Scrum, Kanban, behavioural-driven development (BDD), and continuous integration.
  • Significant experience with documentation, workflow, and code versioning tools, such as Confluence, Jira, GitHub, and GitHub respectively.
  • Confidence to discuss and present solutions to stakeholders and ability to coach junior team members.
