UX / UI Designer

Hybrid Role: Remote/Hull, East Yorkshire. Candidate must live within commuting distance to Hull for fortnightly office meetings.

Saledock is a cloud-based commerce platform designed with retailers, for retailers. We help make business life easier for start-ups and well-established multi-store retailers. Our all-in-one platform unifies in-store and online sales across multiple channels, and helps retailers understand and manage their stock more effectively.

We are looking for a UX/UI Designer to join us on this adventure! You ll be working directly with the founders, and have real impact in shaping the Saledock platform. A can-do attitude and the ability to deliver beautiful, user-friendly and optimised eCommerce sites is essential.

What you will be doing

As an UX/UI Designer you ll deliver template based and bespoke eCommerce sites on the Saledock eCommerce platform. Saledock s platform offers a complete Content Management System (CMS), providing the team and clients with the flexibility to easily manage site content and navigation, with a breadth of eCommerce features available. You ll work directly within the CMS system, and within Saledock s code base itself building sites using pre-defined code components, HTML and CSS.

In summary, you ll:

• Design and develop template based and bespoke eCommerce sites
• Deliver wireframes for bespoke sites and develop the site using componentised functionality, HTML and CSS. Where new bespoke features are required, you ll have the support of the back-end software developers to deliver this
• Work with clients from initial design workshop call and training sessions, to supporting clients within Saledock s CMS platform creating the site structure/navigation, uploading content and assisting in the creation of imagery, which is typically the resizing of images for homepage visuals and banner images
• Implement best practices for usability, site speed, mobile optimisation, and accessibility
• Develop our portfolio of template eCommerce themes
• Optimise the design and performance of existing eCommerce sites
• Provide technical support to the Customer Success Team

What you will bring to the team

You ll bring a wealth of technical knowledge and design flare to the team, and be instrumental in designing, developing and maintaining eCommerce sites for our clients. As a small team, we are fast-paced and dynamic so adaptability is crucial. You ll be able to confidently communicate with clients in all stages of their journey, from design phase to post go-live support and training.

You ll take ownership of your work and being accountable for deliverables are key attributes we look for in a UX/UI Designer. Your sense of responsibility and dedication to quality will ensure that projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Essential Skills:

• Minimum of 2 years experience with HTML and CSS is essential
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe XD, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Excellent time management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent understanding of web design principles, UX/UI, and responsive design
• Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail
• Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility, web standards, and mobile optimisation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Google web tools such as Search Console, GA4 and Tag Manager.
• Experience with eCommerce CMS s
• Experience with SEO best practices
• Knowledge of Javascript is a bonus
