About The Teams

Within this charity, Digital Technology is a multi-disciplined team responsible for defining and delivering a variety of projects that support their corporate and technology objectives, the work covers everything from marketing, digital, infrastructure, and data centric projects - all with one goal in mind how can technology help save nature.

The Senior Technical Architect role sits within the Strategy and Change group as part of their Enterprise Architecture team and will report directly to the Enterprise Architect. The Enterprise Architecture team work closely with all other teams within Digital Technology, with a focus on tech/product strategy and solution design. This role is to support the existing team across a key transformation programme.

Role Description

This employer is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Architect to work as part of their Enterprise Architecture team to identify and deliver cost effective digital solutions that align to the charity's digital and business strategy.

Responsibilities include:

System Design and Architecture:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Design and architect scalable, reliable, and secure IT systems that meet organizational needs.
  • Develop comprehensive system blueprints, diagrams, and documentation to guide implementation.

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Establish and enforce technical standards, best practices, and coding guidelines across projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organisation.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • As part of the wider team, serve as point of contact for technical discussions with stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and end-users.
  • Present technical proposals, recommendations, and advice in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to align technical solutions with organizational goals and objectives.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a technical architect or similar role, with a strong background in system design and architecture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder management with experience of working with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of product and supplier/partner selection and procurement processes (ITT)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical & process information to business stakeholders.
  • Collaboration skills to build relationships, navigate politics and manage conflicts
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of working in the Charity Sector.
  • Proficiency in software development methodologies, programming languages, and database technologies.
  • Experience of designing and implementing Microsoft solutions - Azure, Power platform, Dynamics.
  • Experience of varied business systems implementation - finance, CRM, E-commerce, Web, HR.
  • Mentoring and working with junior team members to guide development
