Head of IT / Senior IT Manager
Location: Chorley, Preston, Blackburn and surrounding areas

Salary & Benefits:

Base salary: 50,000 plus pension
This is a fantastic role for a proactive IT leader who wants to drive innovation and play a critical role in a company's continued success.

Overview:
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Head of IT or Senior IT Manager to join a leading, highly successful independent transport and logistics company.

Previous Roles: Head of IT, Senior IT Manager, or similar leadership positions in IT.
Industries: While the company is flexible regarding your background, experience in service-driven industries with elements of transport, logistics, or production would be highly valued. Relevant sectors might include warehousing, couriers, haulage, food production, waste management, cleaning services, facilities management, recycling, construction, quarrying, aggregates, or plant hire (this list is not exhaustive).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IT department, overseeing the maintenance and regular upgrades of all IT hardware and software.
  • Manage relationships with technology suppliers (e.g., Microsoft Gold Partners, Sage and Sage Partners) to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Drive IT projects across the business, ensuring their successful and timely completion.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and present innovative solutions to improve business performance to the board of directors.
  • Be hands-on when necessary, supporting the team with tasks such as IT installations at new sites.
  • Communicate effectively with the board, presenting project updates and sharing strategic insights.
  • Ensure IT issues are addressed promptly, escalated where necessary, and communicated effectively across the business.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage IT teams and projects.
  • Proficiency in key IT areas such as:
  • Office 365
  • Sage
  • CRM & ERP systems
  • MS SQL, T-SQL, SSRS, VM Ware
  • Cybersecurity (firewalls, VPNs, DNS)
  • Network infrastructure
  • Devices (laptops, Android phones & tablets)
  • Traditional telephony systems
